Jaden McGregor
Pilot, Photographer & Adventurer
Aaniin, My name is Wasseyaa giiwe nibwin or Jaden McGregor. I am Anishnaawbe and Jamaican born and raised in Toronto.
My people are from two distinct Islands. My Anishnaawbe roots are from Aundeck Omni kaning, located on Manitoulin Island. My Jamaican roots are from the town of Old Harbour, which is located on the island of Jamaica. I also have roots in Whitefish River First Nations (Birch Island). My Great Grandmother, Lillian McGregor was from there, she was a recognized Elder in the Indigenous community of Toronto.
I Am a student at the University of Waterloo, entering my 4th and final year of Geography & Aviation with a minor in Peace & Conflict Studies.
I started my photography journey in 2018 since then it has been a way to share my unique Indigenous perspective. I like to capture the often-overlooked beauty in the small details of the world.
Navigating the world of aviation has been a thrilling journey. I earned my Private Pilot’s license in January of 2022. Since then I’ve learned far more than I could ever imagine. I intend to teach others how to fly as Flight Instructor and I hope to inspire fellow Indigenous people to explore aviation’s possibilities.
